Intelligence Collaboration: Information Sharing in Intelligence Organizations

Principal Investigators: Sara Kiesler (Carnegie Mellon University), Susan Fussell (Carnegie Mellon University)

Technologies for information fusion and extraction, data mining, and collaboration support will make possible large scale information sharing in government. Information sharing will be valuable for such national purposes as counter terrorism, crisis management in the event of natural disasters, law enforcement, and public health. A number of technical and nontechnical problems need to be overcome before this vision becomes a reality. This part of our project will examine one critical aspect of this problem domain--the human factors surrounding collaboration and the use of information sharing technologies among intelligence analysts.
